Info about the new standard – Two events about RDA

The "Resource Description and Access"(RDA) has recently detached the "Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules" as standard for the cataloguing of library-related materials. But there is still the need to talk about implementation and performance of the new standard. Two information events will inform about RDA in November.

The DMCI/RCA Taskforce of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative holds the webinar The RDA Vocabularies: Implementation, Extension, and Mapping on 16.11.11. The online event will present the current status of the review process of the metadata standard and will point out the requirements for application profiles. Speaker will be Diane Hillmann, partner in the consulting firm Metadata Management Associates and co-chair of the DCMI/RDA Task Group. The webinar with costs will be take place at the 11/16/11 at 1pm to 2:30pm EDT (7pm to 8:30pm CET).

A alternative event about RDA is the workshop Find  Identify  Select  Obtain: Workshop zu RDA und FRBR at the conference Metadaten und Vokabularien in Graz. Under the guidance of Roswitha Müller will the workshop discuss RDA on the base of the requirements as defined in the "Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records"(FRBR) and will point out possible criteria for correction. The workshop will be held on the 24.11.11 at 13pm, the costs are 30?.
