The Repositories Support Project (RSP) is hosting a series of free webinars featuring various interesting topics for librarians and repository managers. The webinars titles are “Advocacy using campaign materials” (June 26th), “A way of demonstrating the importance of institutional research” (July 3th) and “Advocacy for the arts” (July 16th). All webinars are held at 11am GMT, a booking is mandatory on the RSP event page.

The call for papers for the Sixth International Conference on Metadata and Semantic has been published. The MTSR'12 targets researchers and practitioners from the fields of metadata and semantics research as well as applications of the semantic web and related technologies. The conference topic is metadata and their relationships with Ontologies, Semantic Web, Knowledge Management and Software Engineering. The Call for Papers for the sixth and first time abroad Open-Access-Tage 2012 (Open-Access-Days 2012) has been published. Only one session has been open for submitted presentations the previous years, but this years conference in Vienna will be completely based on proposals. Until May 24th is time to submit abstracts to the program committee. The main language of the conference will be German, but English presentations are welcome.

The Open Repository Conference 2012 will come back to Europe after this year?s visit in Austin/Texas: It has been officially announced that the Seventh International Conference on Open Repositories (OR12) will take place at the University of Edinburgh on July 9-13th July, 2012. The "Resource Description and Access"(RDA) has recently detached the "Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules" as standard for the cataloguing of library-related materials. But there is still the need to talk about implementation and performance of the new standard. Two information events will inform about RDA in November.
The DMCI/RCA Taskforce of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative holds the webinar The RDA Vocabularies: Implementation, Extension, and Mapping on 16.11.11.
